Offering great services for dogs and their families in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

We can help you discover how to unleash the best in your dog

Local Attractions

So, once you have met with Paws in Motion and your dog is happy, depending on what your family is into, try these:

Awesome hiking is available in Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest.  We love Cat Gap Trail (moderate) and Looking Glass Rock (kinda hard).  If ya don't hike much Looking Glass may impair you for a few days.  It's a mild stroll in the beginning, and then...bring water.

After the hike, PIZZA is a must.   Big Mike's Pizza is fantastic.  I'm not getting paid, that pizza is just that good.

During the snow season here, you can visit Wolf Laurel or Ski Beech.

A lot of the  Blue Ridge Parkway is closed for the winter season, but there are lots of great trails open for business.

If you are looking for organic health foods,
Healthy Harvest is a great place.  Stella is super nice.  They across the street from Rockin' Robin Records and The ABC store (in case you need something not so organic)

Tina and I believe in doing business with places that treat people greatly, so the businesses that we listed are the ones that have treated us and our friends well, consumer sovereignty.

Bracken Mountain Bakery has great breads, tea, coffee, and croissants. Our favorite is the Sunflower Oat bread.  The dog sitting out front is Bracken. It is on Broad St. across the street from Pure Pets.

We have lots of great places to visit here, and while your dog is with us we always have great things to do.  We often visit places to socialize our dogs.  Here I am with Mya at a great chocolate shop.

If you're looking for a great Bed and Breakfast, this one is awesome.  The owners are a friendly couple with a GREAT dog, Copper.  This is the
Red House Inn.  It's located on Probart St. in Brevard.  It is close to everything, so you can walk around town.

Pure Pets is the best place to go for awesome natural foods, treats, and they have the coolest people ever.  They are very knowledgeable about everything pets.  They are on the corner of Broad St. and Main St. in downtown Brevard.

A big attraction is the Mountain Song Festival at the Brevard Music Center.  It benefits the Transylvania County Boys and Girls Club.  It features cool people like Shannon Whitworth and Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers.  If you need your dog to have a great time while you are, give us a call.

If you're into cakes, pies, and other sweets, Blue Ridge Bakery is definitely a place to visit.  Matthew's favorite is the chocolate pie and Tina's favorite is the apple pie.  They are located on Broad St.

       Attention Vacationers

Alrighty, so while you're in the area you'll need a place for your family to sleep.  There are some hotels to choose from. There is a Hampton inn and a Holiday inn Express in Brevard.  They didn't seem to accept dogs last time I checked.  Your family dog is welcome to stay with us while you get great rest in your hotel room.  While your family is checking out the awesome local attractions, you won't have to keep in mind how long your dog has been alone, he won't be alone.  He'll be enjoying his vacation as well.  We'll see to it that he gets exercise, play, and lots of affection. See the slumber party page for details.

This is us at Dupont State Forest (Triple Falls)  Definitely take the family there.  Another great thing about Dupont is it is 5 min. From Paws in Motion, so before or after you hike your dog can become a part of our family.
